Cats and bluebells

Quite an uneventful week this week

The weather has been lovely, and with the cats exploring outside we have been able to have our back door open again which is a relief. We have spent a little time in the garden this week tidying up, but now really it's just filling out and getting established and there isn't much for us to do. It's strange going from basically farming to just having a little yard. It's enough space for us to enjoy though, and though I really do miss our old garden, as I've said before, you can't have it all.

We still haven't bought a lawn mower- we will just get a manual one and want one second hand, so today in a team effort, will and the girls cut the grass with scissors. I watched.

I made another cardi this week, more of an entry day one this time. I am in love with this design, it's so easy and striking.

I bought a book this week off fair Isle crochet patterns as there is a tiny bit of fair Isle contrast band in this cardi and it wasn't as fiddly as I was expecting. Let's see how u fair with anything beyond spots!

My next project is making ivy and Hazel sized cardis. I am planning to keep the design pretty much the same and just size down with 4 ply and a little hook as I don't want them to be as heavy as my aran one.

The cats are enjoying the garden. Molly goes off on manoeuvres now and I just have to do my best not to worry. She is quite clever and nimble. Sooty seems mostly content just to stay in the garden. Every now and then he hops on the wall and I plop him back down. He's not that adventurous and is usually just looking for somewhere nice to go to sleep anyway.

Me and the girls spent a bit of time re-doing the pots out front. It was all ivy and cyclamen before which was looking really tired and unseasonal, so this will cheer it up a bit, especially once all the lobelia is blooming.

No other news really, just trying to get by. I seem to be spending a lot of time staring into space so am way behind on my chores and am finding the house totally unmanageable at the moment. I think I need a few hours and some binbags.

We have guests next weekend anyway, so if nothing else works that should give me some motivation to drag us out of this squalor. We'll see.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend to all.
