Mid-year resolutions

I bore myself with all of my resolving, but I think that as long as you aren't perfect there is always something you can do to be happier, live simpler, reduce stress etc. A lot of where we slip up is with being disorganised, especially in the house, so that is what we have been tackling for the past few months. Now that we have less stuff the house is easier and more enjoyable to keep clean, we lose less things and we have more head space for other, more important, things. It's a work in progress. A few things I have resolved to do in the last week are:
Be a better plant Mummy. We have a lot of houseplants and with a little effort I could keep them much healthier
Make the bed every morning. It's SO easy and makes the room much less stressful
Put coats and shoes away straight away. Will is going to build a shoe rack for the porch now that we are keeping the pushchair in the coal shed.
Stop buying secondhand books and use the library more.
Keep the weeds down in the garden.

A bit of DIY and a bit of a bargain this week - for the past few weeks Ivy has started taking bites out of our upstairs windowsills. I don't know why, she is a bit of a character, but it has been making a right mess, so we decided to tile over all of the upstairs windowsills. We got the tiles from B&Q, they were reduced to 20p each, so including the grout each windowsill has probably cost us about £4. I certainly prefer it to upvc.
Last night I went to the spirit centre in the village and really enjoyed myself, so I may start going every week. I never have any time away from Ivy, and as much as I love her, I think it's time to work on that.
It is raining and gloomy today. Ivy and I have already had a walk this morning so I will probably spend the rest of the day pottering about the house. I haven't been that motivated to do any drawing the last week or two and I don't know whether I should push myself to do it or leave it until I'm in the mood. And we are up to the final episode of Twin Peaks...! But it will have to wait until tomorrow as Will goes to the pub on Tuesdays.. the suspense.
